Hello Runner,

Welcome back to your weekly moment of endurance nutrition!

Happy Weekend!
How was your week?

My week was great!

I had plenty of training, muscle pain, an amazing yoga class, an end-of-season dinner with the running club friends, no stomach problems, beach time, special get-togethers with friends I hadn't seen in a long time, moments of reflection, and much more. I can't complain!

And tomorrow is my birthday! I'll be turning 38... how time flies!

I think that's why I've had so many moments of reflection. Starting a new cycle is always good; I believe it motivates us to do our best to achieve our goals. But at the same time, we always have our fears, which is normal.

I'm going to take this new cycle/year as extra fuel to evolve as a person, runner, and professional! What makes me happy is realizing that today I am in an infinitely better place than I was this time last year. And that warms my heart.

I have seen more and more people exercising on the streets—which makes me extremely happy—and also on social media (I hope it's not fake, hahaha).

It's remarkable how many people have started running lately, I believe due to the trend on social media, and I also see a growing number of cyclists and triathletes.

But I notice that most people don't seek assistance from a sports nutritionist, often because they think they don't need help or they know everything. However, you don't have to be an elite or professional athlete to benefit from nutrition support and advice.

Not seeking the help of a sports dietitian/nutritionist is one of the reasons why you are not seeing the results you want!

Here's a list of some reasons why you should see a Sports Dietitian/Nutritionist to get the most out of your running and triathlon training.

REASONS
Improved Race Results

This is perhaps the main reason for seeking out a sports dietitian/nutritionist.

Anyone who starts training, whether an amateur or an athlete, wants to evolve and improve their training and competition results.

→ Only a qualified and trained professional can help you achieve this.

A quick reminder: ChatGPT cannot analyze context and behavior to create a meal plan that will help you improve your performance! The only person who can help you is a professional sports dietitian/nutritionist!

Nutritional Advice for Medical Conditions

People with medical conditions (diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, etc.) need specific advice and different eating plans than people without any medical conditions.

Improve Body Composition

You want to build up muscle mass or reduce body fat so you can perform better in your sport. Without sacrificing strength or speed throughout training to achieve your ideal 'race weight'.

Optimised Training and Recovery Nutrition

You need to know what to eat before, during, and after your workouts, and you want ideas that fit your routine and food preferences.

All this to ensure you get the most out of each session, recover optimally, and progress forward.

Hydration and Dehydration

You need a hydration plan tailored to your needs.

You want help choosing the best electrolyte and fluid options to drink before, during, and after exercise or sport to avoid dehydration, cramping, or over-hydrating.

Cooking, Recipes, and Meal Plan support

You want to make healthier eating choices and need suggestions for buying and cooking food.

You need ideas and recipes to try and test different foods.

Whenever necessary, I help my clients with questions and demonstrations about cooking, measuring food, portions, how to store food, etc.

Gut Issues When Training or Racing

You’re tired of suffering from gastrointestinal problems (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, or cramping) during your training and are unable to improve your performance.

You need quick solutions to end this type of problem and perform at your best.

Race Plan Nutrition Planning

You need or want to create a specific plan for the day of your competition so that you can perform at your best.

You want a plan that includes real food, supplementation, hydration, and recovery strategies that will lead you to achieve your new personal best.

Food Allergies and Intolerances

You have food allergies or intolerances and require a specialized diet, such as gluten-free, lactose-free, or low FODMAP.

You want to ensure that you are meeting your nutritional needs and are looking for detailed nutrition advice and a personalized food plan.

Nutritional Education

You don't know much about nutrition and want to learn how to make good choices for your health.

Nowadays, even with the BOOM of information about nutrition on the internet and social media, it is very common for people to be confused about the choices they need to make.

→ It's okay not to know everything. Dietitians/nutritionists are qualified to educate anyone on making choices that improve their health.

These are some of the reasons why people seek me out as a dietitian/nutritionist. There are many more reasons.
